Our goal is to equip students with the necessary skills for their future by honing their written, oral, and analytical abilities in the context of a courtroom.
We create events for university students to learn and improve their oral advocacy skills and knowledge about law. Our main event is a two day moot court in which students argue a legal case, building their communication, critical thinking and analytical skills. We also provide other events throughout the year to give students the opportunity to practice oral advocacy.
The Toronto Metropolitan University Moot Society is a club dedicated to offering students who are interested in legal professions a platform to develop the habits, policies, and procedures followed in court.
As Toronto Metropolitan University moves towards establishing a new identity, our goal in creating the TMU Moot Society is to elevate the opportunities afforded to TMU students to practice oral advocacy through law. With the founding of the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, and the Law and Business program, we feel that TMU has the potential to become one of the most prominent schools for legal education. The TMU Moot Society aims to bolster TMU’s legal education by providing the first ever undergraduate moot court society at TMU. Throughout the academic year, our group will offer events that help students develop their communication, critical thinking and advocacy skills. These events will culminate in our final event of the year, the TMU Moot.
